Where were you in 1995?

After too many years in college, I took an opportunity to teach English in Japan. Had a great time.

I made my first websites back then (c. 1995-98), hosted on the long-gone Mount Fuji Internet (www.mfi.or.jp). Tried to find those early pages on Internet Archive, but no luck. Probably for the best ;)

I was also using Hotmail in those days, so...

My roots

Before my sojourn to the land of the rising sun, I had been focused very much on production (theater, video & film). I love building, creating. I also gravitate toward service - helping others to realize their vision - usually from behind the scene.

These days:

Living in southern California, running NOSTR OC meetup, proud advocate of Freedom Tech!

Videos

a small selection of some noteworthy videos that I'd made

Adjusting in Nicaragua: the IMF, World Bank and Community Development

Sister-City projects empower local communities to stand for themselves amid harsh Structural Adjustments by The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank.

This video was recorded on location in Nicaragua (Managua, Teustepe, Alta Gracia, Ometepe Island) and Washington, DC, in 1994. Post-production at Athens Center for Film and Video (Athens, OH) in 1994. Broadcast on WOUB (PBS affiliate) January 13, 1995.

The Casamentary: The Story of Worker-Owned Restaurant Casa Nueva

Nestled in bucolic Athens, Ohio, Casa Nueva has been a successful worker-owned restaurant "cooperative" since 1989.

I started working at Casa Nueva back in 1990. Through a series of interviews with my former co-workers, we try to find just what it means to be a member at the Worker-Owned Restaurant Corporation (dba Casa Nueva). I asked a wide range of questions, and the variety of answers I could not have expected.
